Scope

The ReversalInitiation message is sent by an acquirer, an originator or an agent to an issuer to request or advise of the reversal of an authorisation by the issuer. A reversal is a partial or complete nullification of the effects of a previous authorisation, financial presentment or financial accumulation presentment that cannot be processed as instructed (for example, is undeliverable and cancelled or the acquirer timed out waiting for a response).

The ReversalInitiationV05 MessageDefinition is composed of 48 MessageBuildingBlocks:

  • Header — Information related to the management of the protocol.
  • Transaction Characteristics — Contains the key data elements of the transaction.
  • Originator — Information related to the originator.
  • Acquirer — Information related to the acquirer.
  • Sender — Information related to the sender.
  • Card — Card or payment token performing the transaction.
  • Account From — Identifies a customer account or a relationship to its account affected for debit, inquiries and the source of funding for transfers.
  • Account To — Identifies a customer account or a relationship to its account affected for credits, inquiries and the destination account for funds transfers.
  • Receiver — Information related to the receiver.
  • Issuer — Information related to the issuer.
  • Destination — Information related to the destination.
  • Programme — Programme, network, or brand processes the transaction.
  • Transaction Identification — Identification of the transaction.
  • Conversion Date Time — Date and Time of currency conversion.
  • Transaction Amounts — Amounts of the card transaction.
  • Additional Amount — Amounts that are not part of the transaction amount and not included in reconciliation.
  • Tax — Taxes applying to the good or item.
  • Original Data Elements — Data elements contained in the original message.
  • Acceptor — Card acceptor performing the card transaction.
  • Transactor — Information related to the transactior who provides technical payment solutions for acceptor and originator to conduct transactions.
  • Terminal — Payment terminal or ATM performing the transaction.
  • Context — Context of the reversal transaction.
  • ICC Related Data — Data related to an integrated circuit card application embedded in the payment card of the cardholder.
  • Authentication Data — Contain information related to authentication.
  • Payer — The party providing source of funds.
  • Payee — The party receiving funds. A Token
